Thank you for this portrait. Max Schmeling was a true gentleman, always with respect for his opponent. My father once met him in a restaurant in northern germany, it must have been in the 70ies. Max was eating something and my father instantly recognized him. He said, that you looked at him at first sight, while entering the room, because of his huge size. Beside the ring Max was a friendly and polite fellow. Really a great champion and sportsman.

Man vs. Boy. Terry Daniels had a load of courage but had no business being in the ring with even a past-prime Frazier. But Frazier could not afford a tougher opponent in his first fight after he and Ali all but destroyed each other. Frazier was more affected because of his style and was never the same again.

Who advised or inspired Karl Mildenberger to fight Ali? But one thing is for sure Mildenberer had enough strength to have punches in his onesided game upto 12th round.

Joe was just too big for Bob Foster. I don't know what the official weigh-in was for this fight, but Bob Foster doesn't look like he weighs more than a 185-190 pounds at the most. Joe usually came in around 210-215. That's just too big of a difference to overcome. I would have liked to have seen Dwight Braxton against Bob Foster, both of them and their prime, and both in top physical condition.
